New York City, or 'The Big Apple' as it is also known is a centre for media, culture, food, fashion, art, research, finance and trade. It has one of the largest and most famous skylines on earth, dominated by the iconic Empire State Building and Freedome Tower of the World Trade Center. New York City consists of five boroughs which are five separate counties, and each borough has a unique culture and could be a large city in its own right. These five boroughs are: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx and Staten Island.
New York City is one of the global hubs or a 'World City', and one of the most important and influential cities on earth. It is home to many world-class museums, art galleries and theatres, and many of the worlds largest corporations have their headquarters here, including the headquarters of the United Nations.
